Admin Access Control List
Built a self-serve access control UI that eliminated the need for engineers to manually patch user roles in the database — streamlining access management for 100+ staff.
Problem
Assigning and updating user roles required a direct database patch by an engineer. There was no UI for it, meaning every access change created a dependency on the engineering team — slow, error-prone, and unscalable as the organisation grew.
Solution
A self-serve Admin Access Control List UI that lets authorised staff manage roles and permissions without engineering involvement. The interface covers role assignments and permission management across groups, policies, and actions.
Impact
- Streamlined access management for 100+ staff across the organisation
- Eliminated engineer dependency for routine role and permission changes
- Reduced human error from manual database patching
- Improved operational efficiency for the ops and admin teams
My Role
- Created mockups for product review and stakeholder sign-off
- Collaborated with the backend team to define and agree on the API contract
- Developed the Admin ACL pages — including role assignment and permission management (groups, policies, and actions)
